Homemade Pumpkin Spice {Cook}

As much as I love it, I’m a firm believer that the peppermint stays put until AFTER Thanksgiving.  Until then, as basic as it may be, it’s pumpkin spice all the way!  I love the pumpkin spice syrups, but they’re super sugary, and I find that that sweetness often masks the actual ‘spicy-ness’ of the pumpkin spice, which – to me – is the best part.  Instead of relying on store bought ‘pumpkin pie spice,’ which – like the syrup – can be a little bland for my liking, I made my own, and I’m pretty happy with how it came out!  Use it in whatever you like – pie, coffee, oatmeal – and customize to your own tastes {hint…I love a little extra cloves and allspice!}.  Scroll down for the recipe!

  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
