Make Waves {Fresh New Week}

Happy MONDAY!  And can you believe it’s the last day of July!  I kinda want to cry about that a little bit, but it’s been such a great month, I guess I can’t complain!  I’ve been in Texas for the past week, and I’ll be here until Saturday…it’s so nice spending time here wexploring this part of the country.  Things are a far cry from my beloved New Jersey beaches, and I’m all but DYING from this heat, but I have to admit that I’m definitely falling for this place!  We spent the weekend in Austin – such a great city – and I already can’t wait to get back.  I’m back in Galveston now, which is a really cool, historic, unique place, and there’s so many things to do.

On this *almost* first day of this new month, I just wanted to do a ‘new week’ little check in – which I’d like to make more of a regular thing, as I get to be more consistent with writing and sharing.  I know for me, it’s so important my productivity to get a good start to the week and to get things moving – literally.  If I don’t get up and out and checking things off and engaging with people and projects right away in the week, I tend to lose energy, and then it’s hard for me to bounce back and finish the week strong.  As rough as Mondays are, I love to take advantage of the fresh start, face them straight up, and get right to work.  I’m hoping that this Monday ‘Fresh New Week’ check in will be a good jumping off point for me, and maybe for you too.  I’d love to hear what you have going on this week, what you’re struggling with, or how you keep things ‘moving’ and stay productive.

As much as I’d like to settle in to my desk, or my couch + laptop, the more I move, the more I get done, and if I’m idle I lose focus – REAL fast.  These pictures are from a recent trip to Point Lobos State Reserve in Carmel-by-the-Sea – one of my favorite places of all time, and I think of the ocean on this day often when I’m working and trying to keep things moving.  On another note, I’m looking forward to FINALLY sharing my trips to Carmel and Big Sur this week.  I had SO many images, and it was a pretty big undertaking to go through them all, but sorting through all those pics is definitely leaving me antsy for another trip here!  On this day, the ocean was particularly rough, and it was pretty overwhelming – in a good way – to watch the waters churn and the waves crash into the rocks.   With each crash, there was a burst of cool, salty air, and it was pretty magical.  I’m a beach girl at heart, and the sound of the ocean – the waves crashing in then going out again – is like nothing else, and it brings me a lot of calm + peace, regardless of how crazy things are.  You feel humbled, and small, and you’re able to let some worries go and put things back into perspective. The ‘always moving’ nature of the ocean reminds me how energizing that back and forth is, and that sometimes things move more intensely, and sometimes things are calmer, but regardless – you have to just go with it, and embrace that flow, whatever it is.
