Vanilla Lavender Sugar Scrub

I fell in love with body scrub after I used this, which is an absolutely wonderful product, but – honestly – it’s just SO EXPENSIVE.  I will happily {a little too happily} shell out for a few select products that are worth it, but for something that’s just going to go down the drain?  After buying this once {and don’t get me wrong – it is lovely} I was determined to come up with some other option.

After poking around on the internet a bit looking at scrubs, in the midst of making a few other more complicated DIY products, I threw this together, and I have to say that it’s my favorite of the whole bunch.  I absolutely fell IN LOVE with was this vanilla lavender body scrub!  Since making my first batch in February, I’ve gone through two more rounds, and it’s definitely gonna stay on repeat.  I just used regular sugar {though an organic sugar would also work nicely} and some organic vanilla from Whole Foods, and the almond oil {which is a true DIY beauty product hero…I use it in almost everything!}  is also super-moisturizing, so I’ve gone without having to apply any body lotion post-shower. And – as with the other DIY beauty recipes I’ve shared, an added bonus…or maybe the BEST part {!}, is that it’s ridiculously inexpensive to make, so it’s a luxury that can be used every single day!

Ingredients

1 Cup Sugar

½ Cup Almond Oil

½ to 1 Teaspoon Vitamin E Oil {the more you add, the more moisturizing it will be}

½ to 1 Teaspoon Real Vanilla Extract

15 Drops Lavender Essential Oil

Mix all ingredients in a glass bowl until evenly distributed, and store in an air-tight glass jar {mason jars work well, but so do these amber beauties!}

{Note:  Since DIY beauty products use a few, all-natural ingredients, they don’t keep for too long.  You’ll go through this stuff quickly just because it’s so lovely, but keep in mind that you should toss anything that you don’t use and make a new batch every month or so!  Also, try to avoid getting water in the jar – it can cause bacteria to grow. I know, I know, this is a product for the SHOWER…I store it in a glass jar, but usually just put a small amount for single-use in a small tupperware container on the side of the tub pre-shower, as I don’t want to risk breaking the glass jar, regardless.}
