Confession: I love using honey in pretty much anything and I’m kindof a sugar addict…so this lip scrub gives me a chance to indulge totally guilt-free {helpful for the upcoming bathing suit season 😉 } I also love anything that I can DIY at home on-the-cheap, especially if it’s really good for my skin {even better than something I would buy}… and this honey lip scrub hits all the marks.
The best thing about this DIY is that it’s super easy…like, BEYOND super-easy to make, and you likely have the ingredients already in your cabinets. Like the DIY face oil I shared earlier this month, I feel like I can barely call it a recipe!
Ingredients
2 Teaspoons sugar {anything works – I used a mix of raw turbinado sugar and organic cane sugar (because that’s what I had – regular ol’ sugar works fine) to have both a small grain and large grain…if you do this, make sure to use more of the smaller-grain sugar}
1 Teaspoon honey {I used raw/organic honey that was also local – I got it at a food store close to me, it’s what I typically use, so I had it on hand! I would encourage you to find a local source for honey, as well – you can’t beat it!}
1 Teaspoon almond oil {I really like the NOW brand, which is an easy order}
What to do
Mix well in a glass bowl until the ingredients are evenly blended. Use your fingers to apply the mixture to your lips, and massage to slough off any dead skin. {You’ll be tempted to eat it…but don’t!} Rinse, and then finish with your favorite lip balm {this is my current fav!}. I like to do this a few times a week after my nightly cleansing routine – perfect for right before bed!
